Summary
I am a committed champion in the workplace for matters of safety. For a number of years I have represented my colleagues as an official safety representative on behalf of my union. This has involved meeting with regulators from the Office of Nuclear Regulation, directors at both AWE and Imperial College and independent specialists via Nuclear Safety Committees. I have carried out safety inspections and investigations into incidents and near misses in a variety of workplaces with varied hazards within the nuclear industry. I have many years front-line experience in the field of radiation protection, providing monitoring services and advice, and I am now working towards attaining professional status in this and the general workplace safety field. I feel that my insight from both sides of safety issues will stand me in good stead for my future career.
