Summary

Dr Marie Loh is a Research Associate at the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics of the School of Public Health with the London Life Sciences Population (LOLIPOP) team (PIs: Dr John Chambers and Prof Jaspal Kooner). Prior to joining the department, she was a Visiting Researcher here, and a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Oulu.

Dr Loh holds a basic degree (BSc) in Statistics, as well as a Masters in Bioinformatics and a Masters in Statistics. She subsequently obtained her PhD from the University of Western Australin in Perth, Australia while working as a Research Fellow at the Cancer Science Institute of Singapore. Her PhD work was focused on genetic variations between East Asians and Caucasians that influence risk and chemotherapeutic outcomes in gastrointestinal cancers.

Dr Loh specializes in the analysis of high-throughput omics data, next generation sequencing and meta-analyses of both genetics and clinical trial data. Her research focuses on mechanisms underlying non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular diseases and cancer, with a specific interest in transethnic studies.
