Summary

Markus is Vice-Dean (Research & Faculty) and academic director of the Imperial Enterprise Lab. He curates the Entrepreneurial Journey, our school's experiential start-up programme across all of our MBA programmes.

In his research, Markus focuses on several areas. First, he studies science-based organizations and science-based entrepreneurship. He has a particular interest in the interface between the world of academic science and industry, and special hybrid organizations that can bridge both worlds. Second, he is interested in social valuation, i.e. how individuals, firms and products are evaluated by others and how this process is affected by biases and pre-conceptions. Third, Markus studies entrepreneurship within corporations; for instance, he is currently working on why individuals within large organizations decide to found start-up companies.
