Summary

Maxime is a PhD student in the Department of Economics & Public Policy of Imperial College Business School at Imperial College London. He is affiliated with the Centre for Health Economics & Policy Innovation (CHEPI) and holds a studentship from London Interdisciplinary Social Science Doctoral Training Partnership (LISS DTP) funded by the UKRI Economic and Social Research Council. 

His research interests are in health, environmental, and agricultural economics. His thesis focuses on the drivers of unhealthy dietary choices, particularly on the impact of climate change and other environmental factors on food purchasing behaviours and the distributional impact of fiscal policies to promote healthier and more sustainable diets. His thesis supervisors are Prof. Franco Sassi and Dr. Laure de Preux.

Maxime is currently taking part in a research project on "Modelling the Impact of a Tax on HFSS Foods in India", supported by Resolve to Save Lives. He has published several articles on these topics in peer-reviewed journals including Addiction, The Lancet Regional Health, and The Pan American Journal of Public Health. He has also contributed to numerous book chapters, WHO publications, and NGO reports on fiscal policies for health. Maxime has been an invited reviewer for several academic journals including among others Applied Economics, The Lancet Public Health, and PLOS One.

Before beginning the Doctoral Programme at Imperial College London, Maxime worked for 3 years in the Economics of Noncommunicable Diseases team at the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) - WHO Regional HQ for the Americas - and as a consultant for the World Bank on the Health Equity and Financial Protection Indicators (HEFPI) database. He also has additional consultancy experiences for other international and non-profit organisations on fiscal policies for health: WHO, Vital Strategies, and United Health Futures.

Maxime holds an MRes in Economics & Public Policy from Imperial College Business School (United Kingdom), an MSc in Economics from the University of Amsterdam (Netherlands), and an MSc in Corporate Finance from EDHEC Business School (France). He has working experience in Europe, Latin America, and the United States and speaks fluently English, French, and Spanish.
