Marta is a Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer and she has been the Director for the Allergy Postgraduate Programme at Imperial College since 2015. She also works as a substantive Consultant in Paediatric Allergy at Imperial NHS Healthcare Trust since 2017, where she is Deputy Clinical Lead.
Marta did her training in Paediatrics and Paediatric Allergy in one of the largest children’s tertiary hospital in Spain. She also completed an MSc in Paediatric Allergy and Clinical Immunology and a PhD (Magna Cum Laude) at University of Barcelona. She moved to the UK in 2014 with a EU-funded Marie Curie Postdoctoral Individual Fellowship.
Her research so far has focused on food allergy and specifically on food immunotherapy, quality of life and improved allergy diagnostics. Her PhD contributed to a better understanding of the safety of food immunotherapy, which is still an active area of her research. She is also co-chief investigator on an international collaboration investigating diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers for acute FPIES using a ‘whole-omics’ approach.
Marta is an active member of the Paediatric Section Board of EAACI where she is a key member on a number of taskforces aiming at improving transition care for allergic adolescents and clinical outcomes for food immunotherapy.
