Summary
I am a mathematical epidemiologist interested in the control and elimination of neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) and malaria. I am Principal Investigator on the QuoVadis project (World Health Organization, WHO), improving methods for monitoring and evaluating responses to the drugs used for Preventative Chemotherapy and Transmission Control (PCT) of human helminthiases, an intervention targeting approximately 850 million people at risk of soil-transmitted helminthiases, schistosomiasis, lymphatic filariasis and onchocerciasis. I work with the NTD Modelling Consortium, developing mathematical transmission models to evaluate the feasibility of the WHO’s 2020/2025 elimination goals for human onchocerciasis under current and alternative intervention strategies, and I was recently a member of the African Programme for Onchocerciasis Control (APOC) Consultative Committee on Strategic Options and Alternative Treatment Strategies for Accelerating Onchocerciasis Elimination in Africa. I collaborate with the Drugs for Neglected Tropical Diseases initiative (DNDi), the A•WOL Consortium (Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine), and The Onchocerciasis Vaccine for Africa (TOVA) Initiative (University of Liverpool). I have a number of specific statistical interests in various aspects of communicable and non-communicable disease epidemiology.
