Ali is a lecturer in environmental fluid dynamics and an affiliate of the Grantham Institute of Climate Change and the Environment

Ali holds a NERC Independent Research Fellowship. Previously, he held positions at the University of Oxford, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, and MIT. He received his PhD from the University of Toronto.
