Aaij R, Abellán Beteta C, Ackernley T, et al., 2021, Angular analysis of B0→D∗−Ds∗+ with Ds∗+→Ds+γ decays, Journal of High Energy Physics, Vol: 2021
The first full angular analysis of the B0→D∗−Ds∗+ decay is performed using 6 fb−1 of pp collision data collected with the LHCb experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The Ds∗+→Ds+γ and D*− → D¯ π− vector meson decays are used with the subsequent Ds+ → K+K−π+ and D¯ → K+π− decays. All helicity amplitudes and phases are measured, and the longitudinal polarisation fraction is determined to be fL = 0.578 ± 0.010 ± 0.011 with world-best precision, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The pattern of helicity amplitude magnitudes is found to align with expectations from quark-helicity conservation in B decays. The ratio of branching fractions [ℬ(B0→D∗−Ds∗+) × ℬ(Ds∗+→Ds+γ)]/ℬ(B0 → D*−Ds+) is measured to be 2.045 ± 0.022 ± 0.071 with world-best precision. In addition, the first observation of the Cabibbo-suppressed Bs → D*−Ds+ decay is made with a significance of seven standard deviations. The branching fraction ratio ℬ(Bs → D*−Ds+)/ℬ(B0 → D*−Ds+) is measured to be 0.049 ± 0.006 ± 0.003 ± 0.002, where the third uncertainty is due to limited knowledge of the ratio of fragmentation fractions. Aaij R, Abellán Beteta C, Ackernley T, et al., 2021, Searches for 25 rare and forbidden decays of D + and Ds+ mesons, Journal of High Energy Physics, Vol: 2021
A search is performed for rare and forbidden charm decays of the form D(s)+→h±ℓ+ℓ(′)∓, where h± is a pion or kaon and ℓ(′)± is an electron or muon. The measurements are performed using proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.6 fb−1, collected by the LHCb experiment in 2016. No evidence is observed for the 25 decay modes that are investigated and 90 % confidence level limits on the branching fractions are set between 1.4 × 10−8 and 6.4 × 10−6. In most cases, these results represent an improvement on existing limits by one to two orders of magnitude. [Figure not available: see fulltext.]

Aaij R, Abellán Beteta C, Ackernley T, et al., 2021, Observation of the decay Λb0 → χ<inf>c1</inf>pπ−, Journal of High Energy Physics, Vol: 2021
The Cabibbo-suppressed decay Λb0→ χc1pπ− is observed for the first time using data from proton-proton collisions corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6 fb−1, collected with the LHCb detector at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. Evidence for the Λb0→ χc2pπ− decay is also found. Using the Λb0→ χc1pK− decay as normalisation channel, the ratios of branching fractions are measured to beB(Λb0→χc1pπ−)B(Λb0→χc1pK−)=(6.59±1.01±0.22)×10−2,B(Λb0→χc2pπ−)B(Λb0→χc1pπ−)=0.95±0.30±0.04±0.04,B(Λb0→χc2pK−)B(Λb0→χc1pK−)=1.06±0.05±0.04±0.04, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic and the third is due to the uncertainties in the branching fractions of χc1,2→ J/ψγ decays. The Λb0→Λc+K+K−π− decay is observed for the first time using a data sample of proton-proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies of s=7 and 8TeV collected by the LHCb detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3fb−1. The ratio of branching fractions between the Λb0→Λc+K+K−π− and the Λb0→Λc+Ds− decays is measured to be [Formula presented] where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic and the third is due to the knowledge of the Ds−→K+K−π− branching fraction. No structure on the invariant mass distribution of the Λc+K+ system is found, consistent with no open-charm pentaquark signature.

A search for the rare decay $ B^0\to J/ \psi\phi$ is performed using $ pp$ collision data collected with the LHCb dete-ctor at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb−1. No significant signal of the decay is observed and an upper limit of $ 1.1 \times 10^{-7}$ at 90% confidence level is set on the branching fraction.

The first observation of the suppressed semileptonic B_{s}^{0}→K^{-}μ^{+}ν_{μ} decay is reported. Using a data sample recorded in pp collisions in 2012 with the LHCb detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2 fb^{-1}, the branching fraction B(B_{s}^{0}→K^{-}μ^{+}ν_{μ}) is measured to be [1.06±0.05(stat)±0.08(syst)]×10^{-4}, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second one represents the combined systematic uncertainties. The decay B_{s}^{0}→D_{s}^{-}μ^{+}ν_{μ}, where D_{s}^{-} is reconstructed in the final state K^{+}K^{-}π^{-}, is used as a normalization channel to minimize the experimental systematic uncertainty. Theoretical calculations on the form factors of the B_{s}^{0}→K^{-} and B_{s}^{0}→D_{s}^{-} transitions are employed to determine the ratio of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix elements |V_{ub}|/|V_{cb}| at low and high B_{s}^{0}→K^{-} momentum transfer.
