A measurement of four branching-fraction ratios for three-body decays of B mesons involving two open-charm hadrons in the final state is presented. Run 1 and Run 2 pp collision data are used, recorded by the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies 7, 8, and 13 TeV and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb−1. The measured branching-fraction ratios areB(B+→D∗+D−K+)B(B+→D¯0D0K+)=0.517±0.015±0.013±0.011,B(B+→D∗−D+K+)B(B+→D¯0D0K+)=0.577±0.016±0.013±0.013,B(B0→D∗−D0K+)B(B0→D−D0K+)=1.754±0.028±0.016±0.035,B(B+→D∗+D−K+)B(B+→D∗−D+K+)=0.907±0.033±0.014, where the first of the uncertainties is statistical, the second systematic, and the third is due to the uncertainties on the D-meson branching fractions. These are the most accurate measurements of these ratios to date. [Figure not available: see fulltext.]
Aaij R, Abellán Beteta C, Ackernley T, et al., 2020, Measurement of the shape of the Bs0→Ds∗−μ+νμ differential decay rate, Journal of High Energy Physics, Vol: 2020
The shape of the Bs0→Ds∗−μ+νμ differential decay rate is obtained as a function of the hadron recoil parameter using proton-proton collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.7 fb−1 collected by the LHCb detector. The Bs0→Ds∗−μ+νμ decay is reconstructed through the decays Ds∗−→Ds−γ and Ds−→K−K+π−. The differential decay rate is fitted with the Caprini-Lellouch-Neubert (CLN) and Boyd-Grinstein-Lebed (BGL) parametrisations of the form factors, and the relevant quantities for both are extracted. A search for the doubly heavy Ξbc0 baryon using its decay to the D0pK– final state is performed using proton-proton collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV collected by the LHCb experiment between 2016 and 2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb−1. No significant signal is found in the invariant mass range from 6.7 to 7.2 GeV/c2. Upper limits are set at 95% credibility level on the ratio of the Ξbc0 production cross-section times its branching fraction to D0pK− relative to that of the Λb0→D0pK− decay. The limits are set as a function of the Ξbc0 mass and lifetime hypotheses, in the rapidity range from 2.0 to 4.5 and in the transverse momentum region from 5 to 25 GeV/c. Upper limits range from 1.7 × 10−2 to 3.0 × 10−1 for the considered Ξbc0 mass and lifetime hypotheses. [Figure not available: see fulltext.]

A first search for CP violation in the Cabibbo-suppressed Ξc+→pK-π+ decay is performed using both a binned and an unbinned model-independent technique in the Dalitz plot. The studies are based on a sample of proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0fb-1, and collected by the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8TeV. The data are consistent with the hypothesis of no CP violation.

A search for CP violation in the Λ0b→pπ−π+π− decay is performed using LHCb data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6.6 fb−1 collected in pp collisions at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV. The analysis uses both triple product asymmetries and the unbinned energy test method. The highest significances of CP asymmetry are 2.9 standard deviations from triple product asymmetries and 3.0 standard deviations for the energy test method. Once the global p-value is considered, all results are consistent with no CP violation. Parity violation is observed at a significance of 5.5 standard deviations for the triple product asymmetry method and 5.3 standard deviations for the energy test method. The reported deviations are given in regions of phase space.

A measurement of the branching fraction of the decay B0s→K0SK0S is performed using proton–proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5 fb−1 collected by the LHCb experiment between 2011 and 2016. The branching fraction is determined to be B(B0s→K0SK0S)=[8.3±1.6(stat)±0.9(syst)±0.8(norm)±0.3(fs/fd)]×10−6, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third and fourth are due to uncertainties on the branching fraction of the normalization mode B0→ϕK0S and the ratio of hadronization fractions fs/fd. This is the most precise measurement of this branching fraction to date. Furthermore, a measurement of the branching fraction of the decay B0→K0SK0S is performed relative to that of the B0s→K0SK0S channel, and is found to be B(B0→K0SK0S)B(B0s→K0SK0S)=[7.5±3.1(stat)±0.5(syst)±0.3(fs/fd)]×10−2.

A precision measurement of the B+c meson mass is performed using proton- proton collision data collected with the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV, corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 9.0 fb−1. The B+c mesons are reconstructed via the decays B+c→ J/ψπ+, B+c→ J/ψπ+π−π+, B+c→J/ψpp¯¯¯π+, B+c→J/ψD+s, B+c→ J/ψ D0K+ and B+c→B0sπ+. Combining the results of the individual decay channels, the B+c mass is measured to be 6274.47 ± 0.27 (stat) ± 0.17 (syst) MeV/c2. This is the most precise measurement of the B+c mass to date. The difference between the B+c and B0s meson masses is measured to be 907.75 ± 0.37 (stat) ± 0.27 (syst) MeV/c.

An angular analysis of the B0→K*0(→K+π−)μ+μ− decay is presented using a dataset corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.7 fb−1 of pp collision data collected with the LHCb experiment. The full set of CP-averaged observables are determined in bins of the invariant mass squared of the dimuon system. Contamination from decays with the K+π− system in an S-wave configuration is taken into account. The tension seen between the previous LHCb results and the standard model predictions persists with the new data. The precise value of the significance of this tension depends on the choice of theory nuisance parameters.
Aaij R, Beteta CA, Adeva B, et al., 2020, Observation of a new baryon state in the Lambda(0)(b)pi(+)pi(-) mass spectrum, The Journal of High Energy Physics, Vol: 2020, ISSN: 1029-8479
A new baryon state is observed in the Λ0bπ+π− mass spectrum with high significance using a data sample of pp collisions, collected with the LHCb detector at centre-of-mass energies s√= 7, 8 and 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb−1. The mass and natural width of the new state are measured to bem=6072.3±2.9±0.6±0.2 MeV,Γ=72±11±2 MeV,where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The third uncertainty for the mass is due to imprecise knowledge of the Λ0bbaryon mass. The new state is consistent with the first radial excitation of the Λ0b baryon, the Λb(2S)0 resonance. Updated measurements of the masses and the upper limits on the natural widths of the previously observed Λb(5912)0 and Λb(5920)0 states are also reported.
