Summary

Nair Bonito received her PhD in Molecular Biology from Imperial College London. During her PhD, she studied the regulation of IL-6 type cytokine responses by MAPKs. Specializing in cell lines and different molecular biology techniques including ChIP and flow cytometry, Nair showed that the protein ERK2 binds to gp130 promoter, regulating its expression and, consequently, its signalling (Bonito, et al 2014). In 2013, she joined the Epigenetics Unit in the Division of Cancer with Prof Bob Brown. Currently, she is working on the mechanisms though which certain biomarkers affect ovarian cancer progression and chemo resistance.
