Summary

Nick is a fully funded PhD student part of the EPSRC CDT in Sustainable Civil Engineering within the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Imperial College London. Nick is also a member of the Imperial Climate Ocean Dynamics group and part of the Grantham Institute's Science and Solutions for a Changing Climate DTP.

Nicks PhD research focuses on the idea of increasing the ocean's alkalinity as a way of increasing the carbon uptake of the ocean in order to help mitigate the effects of climate change. A modelling approach is being adopted, using the MITgcm, in order to investigate both the abiotic and biotic response to ocean alkalinity enhancement. This research is supervised by Dr. Ali Mashayek and Professor Chris Cheeseman.

Nick currently holds a BSc (Hons) in Oceanography from the University of Southampton, where he spent half of his final year abroad at the University of Western Australia. Nick also holds a MSc in Geoscience from University College London (UCL).
