Summary

Overview

My research is focused in the areas of renewable energy and clean technology. Many of these technologies are excellent methods to reduce cost centres for companies and organizations. Further, these are key to a sustainable future, where critical resources are used carefully to prevent unnecessary damage to the ecosystem, and ensure the availability of those resources for generations to come. Research in these fields can provide both economic and environmental benefits.

At Imperial, my work is focused on biomass supply chain network optimization. As the biomass and biofuel industry is still developing, supply chain optimization can lead to improved profits and reduce the overall carbon footprint of the network. Further improvements can be found through improved model integration between process level models and the supply chain model.

My doctoral research was on the design of gas distributors in low temperature PEM fuel cells. Gas distribution is extremely important to power output, and liquid water removal. Further improvements in gas distributor design can lead to smaller fuel cell stacks, leading to cheaper fuel cell vehicles with better power-to-weight ratios.

Other topics of interest include applications of agricultural waste based biochars, lithium ion batteries, and building-level geothermal heat pumps.
