Summary

Summary

I am a  theoretical plasma physicist and a  member of the Plasma Physics group since 2009 when I was awarded an EPSRC/DTA  scholarship to study Plasma Physics, resulting to my PhD degree. I had previously obtained my BSc degree  in Physics (Honours) from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece and my MSc degree in Quantum Fields and Fundamental Forces from Imperial College London in the field of Theoretical Physics with focus on early Universe cosmology.

Research Interests

My so far research was focused on the basic physics of dust-plasma interaction and plasma-surface interactions in the area of  Magnetic Confinement Fusion (MCF). During my PhD, I studied plasma sheath related phenomena and its application on the charging  of large dust grains. I also developed, in collaboration with the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL), the kinetic Vlasov code Yggdrasil-PSI to study plasma-surface interaction phenomena.

My current interests are focusing on Laser-Plasma Interaction (LPI),  plasma-surface interactions (PSI) and kinetic modelling (Vlasov). I am also interested in the applications of my work on astrophysical and cosmological scales.

I have strong interest in promoting STEM subjects and research. I am an  Imperial College Outreach Ambassador and Leader and I hold a QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) professional qualification. I have been actively involved in outreach for more than 10 years and I have given a number of talks to students of all levels.
