Summary

Dr. Octavio Pano is an Honorary Research Associate at the department of Primary Care & Public Health. Dr. Pano's research is centered on the impact of lifestyles on cardiometabolic and chronic disease outcomes.

His previous experiences include studies on nutritional epidemiology involvind the Mediterranean diet and its association/effects on cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, cancer and depression. Furthermore, he has conducted reviews on the topics of health related quality of life, dietary behaviors and most recently on healthy ageing. 

Octavio is part of the Institute for Social and Preventive Medicine at the University of Bern, Switzerland where he is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. At this institute he participates in activities from the Environmental and Spatial Epidemiology and the Lifestyle and Behavior groups. Moreover, he is part of the Navarra Institute for Health Research (IdiSNA) in Navarra Spain. 

Octavio's research interests include causal inference methods appplied to life course and ageing, nutrition, physical activity and sleep. Additionally, he has an interest for topics of sustainability and potential to reduce human impacts on the environment through lifestyle and habits. 

Currently, he is working on identifying the potential for co-benefits to childrens health and the environment through sustainable diets. The implications are a brighter, healthier future for the children of today and future generations.
