Summary

Dr Oliver Robinson is a Lecturer at the MRC centre for Environment and Health. He rejoined Imperial College in 2016 after completing a post-doctoral position at the Centre for Research in Environmental Epidemiology (CREAL), Barcelona, where he was scientific coordinator of the European FP7 HELIX project (www.projecthelix.eu). Prior to this he graduated from the University of Sussex with a First Class Honours degree in Human Sciences and obtained an MSc in Modern Epidemiology at Imperial College. He was then awarded a PhD in Biomedical Research in 2013 by Imperial College for his work investigating the combined role of plant contaminants and the pesticide DDT in an outbreak of severe liver disease in rural Ethiopia.

His research interests lie in the field of molecular and environmental epidemiology and environmental justice. He is interested in investigating the joint effects of multiple factors using multi-disciplinary and ‘omic’ approaches. As a Future Leaders Fellow, funded by UK Research and Innovation, he is developing novel biomarkers of development and ageing across multiple populations. The work may shed light on common pathological mechanisms underlying multiple non-communicable diseases. He is also currently involved in two EU funded projects: STOP (Science and Technology in Child Obesity Policy, http://www.stopchildobesity.eu) and Lifepath (https://www.lifepathproject.eu/).
