Summary

Onyema is a Lecturer in Power Sustainability in Electronic Engineering Department of Royal Holloway University of London where he conducts research and teaches sustainable power systems. He is a Visiting Researcher in the Control and Power Group of EEE Department of Imperial College London.

He is a Senior Member of the IEEE, a Member of the IET and a Registered Electrical Engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN). He was a Power Quality Consultant to Imperial Consultants (ICON). He was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Imperial College. He served as a Session Chair in the IEEE Power and Energy Society General Meeting (PESGM) 2020.

During his postgraduate studies, he was a recipient of the prestigious Nigerian Presidential scholarship. He obtained a PhD in Electrical Engineering and MSc in Control Systems from Imperial College and a BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Federal University of Technology Owerri, Nigeria.

He remains research active in sustainable electricity networks, power quality, distribution networks and microgrid modelling, planning and operation, low carbon technology (electric vehicles, energy storage and photovoltaic systems) integration into power networks and power quality big data analytics.
