Summary

Professor Peter Buckle is an expert in human factors and design safety. His work is primarily within the NIHR funded In-vitro diagnostic co-operative based within the Department of Surgery and Cancer. Peter is a Fellow and Former President of the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Public Health. a Fellow of the International Ergonomics Association and is a Principal Research Fellow at Imperial College. He has held Visiting Professorial positions at five leading UK Universities including that of Research Professor in Design at the RCA (2013-2015). He authored the (then) Department of Health's 'Design for Patient Safety' report (2003), and was awarded the President’s medal of the Ergonomics Society (2005) for Design Patient Safety Research and the Bartlett medal for distinguished research (2001).  He was also Director of the Robens Institute at the University of Surrey. He sits on advisory committees for the Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and on several expert committees for the Government Health and Safety Executive, including the Workplace health expert committee.
