Summary

Dr George focusses his research on clinically relevant and translational aspects of interstitial lung disease and pulmonary fibrosis.

  • The application of novel artificial intelligence techniques to CT scans for the the evaluation and prognostic assessment of patients with interstitial lung disease affords a unique opportunity to improve patient outcomes - this is a key focus of Dr George's research
  • Improving outcomes for patients with interstitial lung disease by better understanding of epidemiological trends in the UK and globally through the use of routinely collected primary care and hospital records is an ongoing theme of work in collaboration with Professor Jenni Quint
  • Exploring the role of the vasculature in the pathogenesis of interstitial lung disease and pulmonary fibrosis is a key theme of work ongoing within the cardiorespiratory interface section in collaboration with Professor Jane Mitchell
  • Better understanding the relationship between gastroesophageal reflux and interstitial lung disease represents a a further cross-cutting means of unpicking novel mechanisms and treatment approaches
