Summary

Dr Phillip Lawton completed his PhD at Imperial College London, working for Dr Euan Stronach with the aim of identifying novel therapeutic targets in the DNA damage repair pathways, which could be utilised to treat ovarian and pancreatic cancers.

In 2017, he began work as a Research Associate for Dr Jon Krell, funded by Action Against Cancer, with the aim of testing novel methods of treating ovarian cancer using miRNAs that target DNA repair proteins. The aim of this work is to develop novel methods to sensitise tumour cells to existing DNA damaging chemotherapy currently used to treat ovarian cancer.
