Summary
I started my research-oriented path by obtaining a BSc degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics at the Democritus University of Thrace, Greece. Later, I received my MSc in the Molecular Basis of Human disease from the University of Crete, Greece. I went on to complete my PhD at Oxford Brookes University, as a member of the Carter lab, where I studied the role of extracellular vesicles in cancer metastasis.
In March 2019, I joined the Holder lab (https://www.theholderlab.com/) in the Institute of Reproductive and Developmental Biology (IRDB), at Imperial College London, as a post-doctoral researcher. My work focuses on the bi-directional communication between maternal immune cells and the placenta via extracellular vesicles.
Scientific interests: extracellular vesicles (with focus on uptake and imaging) and placental biology.
