Piera Patrizio is a Senior Research Associate at the Centre for Environmental Policy in the Faculty of Natural Sciences of Imperial College London. She is also a guest researcher at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), with whom she is actively collaborating. 

Her research focus on connecting insights from energy modelling with social science and climate policy and include the assessment of socio-economic impacts of energy systems decarbonization and low-carbon technologies deployment. 

She currently works on the UKRI funded CO2 Removal Hub,  where she is leading the development of modelling framework for the evaluation of a suite of Greenhouse Gas Removal (GGR) technologies and their sustainable scale up in the UK. Prior to that, she worked in the EU Horizon 2020  NEGEM project, which goal is to assess the realistic potential of Negative Emission Technologies and Practices (NETPs) within the EU and their contribution to climate neutrality. 

Piera Patrizio holds a PhD in Environmental Engineering and an MSc in Industrial Engineering, both from the University of Udine, Italy. Before joining the Centre for Environmental Policy, she held a Research Scholar position at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA, Austria).
