We describe an analysis comparing the pp[over ¯] elastic cross section as measured by the D0 Collaboration at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV to that in pp collisions as measured by the TOTEM Collaboration at 2.76, 7, 8, and 13 TeV using a model-independent approach. The TOTEM cross sections, extrapolated to a center-of-mass energy of sqrt[s]=1.96  TeV, are compared with the D0 measurement in the region of the diffractive minimum and the second maximum of the pp cross section. The two data sets disagree at the 3.4σ level and thus provide evidence for the t-channel exchange of a colorless, C-odd gluonic compound, also known as the odderon. We combine these results with a TOTEM analysis of the same C-odd exchange based on the total cross section and the ratio of the real to imaginary parts of the forward elastic strong interaction scattering amplitude in pp scattering for which the significance is between 3.4σ and 4.6σ. The combined significance is larger than 5σ and is interpreted as the first observation of the exchange of a colorless, C-odd gluonic compound.

We study the production of the exotic charged charmoniumlike state Z±c(3900) in p¯p collisions through the sequential process ψ(4260)→Z±c(3900)π∓, Z±c(3900)→J/ψπ±. Using the subsample of candidates originating from semi-inclusive weak decays of b-flavored hadrons, we measure the invariant mass and natural width to be M=3902.6+5.2−5.0(stat)+3.3−1.4(syst)  MeV and Γ=32+28−21(stat)+26−7(syst)  MeV, respectively. We search for prompt production of the Z±c(3900) through the same sequential process. No significant signal is observed, and we set an upper limit of 0.70 at the 95% credibility level on the ratio of prompt production to the production via b-hadron decays. The study is based on 10.4  fb−1 of p¯p collision data collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron collider.

We present evidence for the exotic charged charmoniumlike state Z±c(3900) decaying to J/ψπ± in semi-inclusive weak decays of b-flavored hadrons. The signal is correlated with a parent J/ψπ+π− system in the invariant-mass range 4.2–4.7 GeV that would include the exotic structure Y(4260). The study is based on 10.4  fb−1 of p¯p collision data collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron collider.

We report a measurement of the lifetime of the Ω0c baryon using proton-proton collision data at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0  fb−1 collected by the LHCb experiment. The sample consists of about 1000  Ω−b→Ω0cμ−¯νμX signal decays, where the Ω0c baryon is detected in the pK−K−π+ final state and X represents possible additional undetected particles in the decay. The Ω0c lifetime is measured to be τΩ0c=268±24±10±2  fs, where the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and from the uncertainty in the D+ lifetime, respectively. This value is nearly four times larger than, and inconsistent with, the current world-average value.

Drell-Yan lepton pairs produced in the process p¯p→ℓ+ℓ−+X through an intermediate γ∗/Z boson have an asymmetry in their angular distribution related to the spontaneous symmetry breaking of the electroweak force and the associated mixing of its neutral gauge bosons. The CDF and D0 experiments have measured the effective-leptonic electroweak mixing parameter sin2θlepteff using electron and muon pairs selected from the full Tevatron proton-antiproton data sets collected in 2001-2011, corresponding to 9–10  fb−1 of integrated luminosity. The combination of these measurements yields the most precise result from hadron colliders, sin2θlepteff=0.23148±0.00033. This result is consistent with, and approaches in precision, the best measurements from electron-positron colliders. The standard model inference of the on-shell electroweak mixing parameter sin2θW, or equivalently the W-boson mass MW, using the zfitter software package yields sin2θW=0.22324±0.00033 or equivalently, MW=80.367±0.017  GeV/c2.

We present a measurement of the effective weak mixing angle parameter sin2θℓeff in p¯p→Z/γ∗→μ+μ− events at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV, collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider and corresponding to 8.6  fb−1 of integrated luminosity. The measured value of sin2θℓeff[μμ]=0.23016±0.00064 is further combined with the result from the D0 measurement in p¯p→Z/γ∗→e+e− events, resulting in sin2θℓeff[comb]=0.23095±0.00040. This combined result is the most precise measurement from a single experiment at a hadron collider and is the most precise determination using the coupling of the Z/γ∗ to light quarks.

We present a study of the X±(5568) using semileptonic decays of the B0s meson using the full run II integrated luminosity of 10.4  fb−1 in proton-antiproton collisions at a center of mass energy of 1.96 TeV collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We report evidence for a narrow structure, X±(5568), in the decay sequence X±(5568)→B0sπ± where B0s→μ∓D±sX, D±s→ϕπ± which is consistent with the previous measurement by the D0 Collaboration in the hadronic decay mode, X±(5568)→B0sπ± where B0s→J/ψϕ. The mass and width of this state are measured using a combined fit of the hadronic and semileptonic data, yielding m=5566.9+3.2−3.1(stat)+0.6−1.2(syst)  MeV/c2, Γ=18.6+7.9−6.1(stat)+3.5−3.8(syst)  MeV/c2 with a significance of 6.7σ.

The CDF and D0 experiments at the Fermilab Tevatron have measured the asymmetry between yields of forward- and backward-produced top and antitop quarks based on their rapidity difference and the asymmetry between their decay leptons. These measurements use the full data sets collected in proton-antiproton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of √s=1.96  TeV. We report the results of combinations of the inclusive asymmetries and their differential dependencies on relevant kinematic quantities. The combined inclusive asymmetry is At¯tFB=0.128±0.025. The combined inclusive and differential asymmetries are consistent with recent standard model predictions.

We report on a measurement of the flavor-specific B0s lifetime and of the D−s lifetime using proton-proton collisions at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, collected by the LHCb experiment and corresponding to 3.0  fb−1 of integrated luminosity. Approximately 407 000 B0s→D(*)−sμ+νμ decays are partially reconstructed in the K+K−π−μ+ final state. The B0s and D−s natural widths are determined using, as a reference, kinematically similar B0→D(*)−μ+νμ decays reconstructed in the same final state. The resulting differences between widths of B0s and B0 mesons and of D−s and D− mesons are ΔΓ(B)=−0.0115±0.0053(stat)±0.0041(syst)  ps−1 and ΔΓ(D)=1.0131±0.0117(stat)±0.0065(syst)  ps−1, respectively. Combined with the known B0and D− lifetimes, these yield the flavor-specific B0s lifetime, τfsB0s=1.547±0.013(stat)±0.010(syst)±0.004(τB)  ps and the D−s lifetime, τD−s=0.5064±0.0030(stat)±0.0017(syst)±0.0017(τD)  ps. The last uncertainties originate from the limited knowledge of the B0 and D− lifetimes. The results improve upon current determinations.

We present the first measurement of the CP violating charge asymmetry in B±→μ±νμD0 decays using the full Run II integrated luminosity of 10.4  fb−1 in proton-antiproton collisions collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We measure a difference in the yield of B− and B+ mesons in these decays by fitting the reconstructed invariant mass distributions. This results in an asymmetry of AμD0=[−0.14±0.20]%, which is consistent with standard model predictions.

We present a measurement of top quark polarization in t¯t pair production in p¯p collisions at √s=1.96  TeV using data corresponding to 9.7  fb−1 of integrated luminosity recorded with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We consider final states containing a lepton and at least three jets. The polarization is measured through the distribution of lepton angles along three axes: the beam axis, the helicity axis, and the transverse axis normal to the t¯t production plane. This is the first measurement of top quark polarization at the Tevatron using lepton+jet final states and the first measurement of the transverse polarization in t¯t production. The observed distributions are consistent with standard model predictions of nearly no polarization.

The inclusive cross section of top quark-antiquark pairs produced in p¯p collisions at √s=1.96  TeV is measured in the lepton+jets and dilepton decay channels. The data sample corresponds to 9.7  fb−1 of integrated luminosity recorded with the D0 detector during Run II of the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. Employing multivariate analysis techniques we measure the cross section in the two decay channels and we perform a combined cross section measurement. For a top quark mass of 172.5 GeV, we measure a combined inclusive top quark-antiquark pair production cross section of σt¯t=7.26±0.13(stat)+0.57−0.50(syst)  pb which is consistent with standard model predictions. We also perform a likelihood fit to the measured and predicted top quark mass dependence of the inclusive cross section, which yields a measurement of the pole mass of the top quark. The extracted value is mt=172.8±1.1(theo)+3.3−3.1(exp)  GeV.

We present a measurement of the top quark mass in pp¯ collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. The data were collected by the D0 experiment corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9.7  fb−1. The matrix element technique is applied to tt¯ events in the final state containing leptons (electrons or muons) with high transverse momenta and at least two jets. The calibration of the jet energy scale determined in the lepton+jets final state of tt¯ decays is applied to jet energies. This correction provides a substantial reduction in systematic uncertainties. We obtain a top quark mass of mt=173.93±1.84  GeV.

We present a measurement of the correlation between the spins of t and View the MathML source quarks produced in proton–antiproton collisions at the Tevatron Collider at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV. We apply a matrix element technique to dilepton and single-lepton+jets final states in data accumulated with the D0 detector that correspond to an integrated luminosity of 9.7 fb−1. The measured value of the correlation coefficient in the off-diagonal basis, View the MathML source, is in agreement with the standard model prediction, and represents evidence for a top–antitop quark spin correlation difference from zero at a level of 4.2 standard deviations.

We measure the forward-backward asymmetries AFB of charged Ξ and Ω baryons produced in pp¯ collisions recorded by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider at s√=1.96  TeV as a function of the baryon rapidity y. We find that the asymmetries AFB for charged Ξ and Ω baryons are consistent with zero within statistical uncertainties.

We report evidence for the simultaneous production of J/ψ and Υ mesons in 8.1  fb−1 of data collected at s√=1.96  TeV by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab pp¯ Tevatron Collider. Events with these characteristics are expected to be produced predominantly by gluon-gluon interactions. In this analysis, we extract the effective cross section characterizing the initial parton spatial distribution, σeff=2.2±0.7(stat)±0.9(syst)  mb.

We study Λ and Λ¯ production asymmetries in pp¯→Λ(Λ¯)X, pp¯→J/ψΛ(Λ¯)X, and pp¯→μ±Λ(Λ¯)X events recorded by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider at s√=1.96  TeV. We find an excess of Λ’s (Λ¯’s) produced in the proton (antiproton) direction. This forward-backward asymmetry is measured as a function of rapidity. We confirm that the Λ¯/Λ production ratio, measured by several experiments with various targets and a wide range of energies, is a universal function of “rapidity loss,” i.e., the rapidity difference of the beam proton and the lambda.

We measure the top quark mass in dilepton final states of View the MathML source events in View the MathML source collisions at View the MathML source, using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9.7 fb−1 at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The analysis features a comprehensive optimization of the neutrino weighting method to minimize the statistical uncertainties. We also improve the calibration of jet energies using the calibration determined in View the MathML source events, which reduces the otherwise limiting systematic uncertainty from the jet energy scale. The measured top quark mass is mt=173.32±1.36(stat)±0.85(syst) GeV.

We present the first search for CPT-violating effects in the mixing of B0s mesons using the full Run II data set with an integrated luminosity of 10.4  fb−1 of proton-antiproton collisions collected using the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We measure the CPT-violating asymmetry in the decay B0s→μ±D±s as a function of celestial direction and sidereal phase. We find no evidence for CPT-violating effects and place limits on the direction and magnitude of flavor-dependent CPT- and Lorentz-invariance violating coupling coefficients. We find 95% confidence intervals of Δa⊥<1.2×10−12  GeV and (−0.8<ΔaT−0.396ΔaZ<3.9)×10−13  GeV.

We present a simultaneous measurement of the forward-backward asymmetry and the top-quark polarization in tt¯ production in dilepton final states using 9.7  fb−1 of proton-antiproton collisions at s√=1.96  TeV with the D0 detector. To reconstruct the distributions of kinematic observables we employ a matrix element technique that calculates the likelihood of the possible tt¯ kinematic configurations. After accounting for the presence of background events and for calibration effects, we obtain a forward-backward asymmetry of Att¯=(15.0±6.4(stat)±4.9(syst))% and a top-quark polarization times spin analyzing power in the beam basis of κP=(7.2±10.5(stat)±4.2(syst))%, with a correlation of −56% between the measurements. If we constrain the forward-backward asymmetry to its expected standard model value, we obtain a measurement of the top polarization of κP=(11.3±9.1(stat)±1.9(syst))%. If we constrain the top polarization to its expected standard model value, we measure a forward-backward asymmetry of Att¯=(17.5±5.6(stat)±3.1(syst))%. A combination with the D0 Att¯ measurement in the lepton+jets final state yields an asymmetry of Att¯=(11.8±2.5(stat)±1.3(syst))%. Within their respective uncertainties, all these results are consistent with the standard model expectations.
