Summary
Rakhee Parmar is the Team Secretary for the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Health Protection Research Unit (HPRU) in Healthcare Associated Infection and Antimicrobial Resistance at Imperial College London.
The HPRU is a partnership between Imperial College London, Public Health England, Cambridge University, Warwick University and Imperial College Health Partners. The Unit was funded, along with 14 others in priority areas from immunisation to radiation hazards, to bring Universities to work in partnership with Public Health England to support excellent health protection research relevant to the needs of Public Health England. It commenced 01 April 2020 for a 5 year period and builds on the legacy of the previous HPRU which ran from 01 April 2014 -31 March 2020.
Rakhee works directly to the Head of Operations Juliet Allibone and supports the wider HPRU Management Team, liaising with Co-Directors; other academic and administrative staff within Imperial College London, the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, PHE and other bodies collaborating with the Unit. Both Rakhee and Juliet are based at the Hammersmith Campus in the Infectious Diseases and Immunity Section.
As Team secretary, Rakhee is responsible for the administration and co-ordinating functions involved in the smooth running, organisation and management of the Unit, including setting up and supporting theme and operational meetings, HR admin support to the team, maintaining and updating the Unit website and producing the quarterly newsletter that goes out to over 500 recipients.
Rakhee is a graduate of Applied Language Studies where she specialised in German and Spanish at the University of West London with placements at the Universidad de Sevilla and Philips Universitaet, Marburg.
