Summary

Fluid Mechanics 2 - CENG95004

Aims

This module builds upon the material covered in related first-year modules and aims to provide an advanced understanding of the equations governing mass and momentum transfer of incompressible fluids. This knowledge will be used to solve a wide range of problems for a number of settings relevant to engineering applications.

Role

Course Leader

Process Heat Transfer - CENG97016

Aims

The course is taught for one term and is structured in 10 sessions, each 3-hour long, during the Spring term and a revision lecture in the Summer term. Each session typically focuses on one type of heat exchanger with worked examples to illustrate the calculation procedures presented. Additional problems and their solutions will be available on BlackBoard. Two practical sessions are dedicated to the development of heat-exchanger models using COMSOL Multiphysics software.

Lecturers: Dr. Ronny Pini (module coordinator) and Dr. Marcos Millan-Agorio Teaching Assistant (COMSOL): Anna-Maria Eckel

Role

Lecturer

Advanced Chemical Engineering Design Practice Final Year Design - CENG97006

Aims

The Design Project has the objective of giving students experience of advanced design practice by carrying out a complex design task in as realistic a way as possible. The desired learning outcomes include producing a comprehensive design in response to an open-ended brief, while working in a large team, under realistic time pressure and on the basis of limited information.

The main aims of the Design Project are to help students:

develop skills in complex design problem-solving including technical, safety, environmental and economic aspects

develop skills in the effective management of work and decision making in large groups

develop skills in the presentation (oral and written) of complex techno-economic results

Role

Lecturer
