Summary
Romain is a research postgraduate at the Department of Chemical Engineering, under the co-supervision of Prof Magda Titirici, Dr. Ifan E. L. Stephens and Prof Mary Ryan. He also takes part in the Transition to Zero Pollution Initiative, as an affiliate student of the Science and Solutions for a Changing Planet Doctoral Training Partnership at the Grantham Institute of Climate Change and the Environment.
His research is funded by the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng), and focuses on electrocatalytic methods for nitrogen fixation to ammonia, as an alternative to the currently highly energy-intense and carbon-emitting Haber-Bosch process. For this purpose, he studies Li-mediated ammonia synthesis in non aqueous media, drawing inspiration from battery science and electrolyte engineering to understand and promote this challenging reaction.
Romain holds a MSc in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering from the university of Lyon, France (École Supérieure de Physique, Chimie et Électronique de Lyon).
