Summary

Dr Richard Jabbour is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London and Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.

He graduated from Imperial College London in 2009, and underwent junior doctor rotations at Imperial College Healthcare Trust and the Royal Brompton Hospital. In 2013-2014 he was awarded a highly competitive NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship. This post enabled him to obtain a BHF PhD Clinical Research Training Fellowship (2016-2019) to undertake basic science research with Professor Sian Harding at the Imperial College for Translational and Experimental Medicine. His PhD involving engineered heart tissue created from induced pluripotent stem cell derived cardiomyocytes, was completed in 2020 and resulted in several awards and prizes and the work carried out received coverage on both national and international media outlets.

His clinical interventional cardiology experience includes a year of training in Milan (2015-2016) under the guidance of Professor Antonio Colombo and Dr Azeem Latib, and dedicated fellowships at Hammersmith and Harefield Hospitals.

He has published over 120 peer reviewed publications including original articles, reviews and editorials with over 15 regional, national and international awards.

4) Imperial College Provost's Award for Excellence in Research 

5) Young Investigator Award, International Society of Heart Research, World Congress, Beijing, China

In 2020, he was awarded second place in both the British Cardiovascular Society Young Investigator competition and the Royal Society of Medicine President's Cardiology Prize.
