Dr Nurnberg's research focuses on the numerical analysis of finite element approximations for nonlinear partial differential equations and free boundary problems.
Of particular interest is the numerical approximation of geometric evolution equations and related free boundary problems. Examples are (anisotropic) mean curvature flow, (anisotropic) surface diffusion and Willmore flow. Related free boundary problems are void electromigration, Stefan problems and two-phase flow.
