Guenneau S, Farhat M, Kadic M, et al., 2013, Metamaterials for control of surface electromagnetic and liquid waves, Metamaterials and Wave Control, Pages: 161-194, ISBN: 9781848215184
In this chapter, the authors show that it is possible to design a flat lens and a cylindrical acoustic cloak for linear surface liquid waves (LSWs). They construct two structured materials: a square array of circular cylinders bends surface waves in the wrong direction at a specific hertz frequency; and a concentric array of cylinders bends surface waves over a finite interval of hertz frequencies. The lens behaves as an effective fluid with a negative gravity and the cloak behaves as an effective fluid characterized by a transversely anisotropic shear viscosity. Here, they design a structured metal plate that bends surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) in the visible and near infrared spectrum. Such an enhanced control of water and electron wave trajectories, which used techniques developed in the emerging fields of transformational and conformal optics, opens new vistas in transformational surface physics.

Hofman M, Scherrer G, Kadic M, et al., 2013, Dispersion engineering for multifunctional photonic crystal based nanophotonic devices at infrared wavelengths, Journal of Nanomedicine and Nanotechnology, Vol: 4
TIn this paper, we report the design, the fabrication and the near field optical microscopy of Negative Index Material (NIM) and GRadient INdex (GRIN) photonic crystal based flat lenses. They were fabricated on the basis of an InPbased photonic crystal technological platform including hole and pillar networks fabrication at nanometer scale. They show the possibility of sub-wavelength focusing by all dielectric periodic or quasi-periodic crystals. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of SNOM images using three-dimensional simulations. Finally, in order to demonstrate the versatility of our approach, a two-dimensional cloaking device mixing hole and pillar arrays is evaluated to pave the way for future integrated nanophotonic devices with complex functionalities. © 2013 Hofman M, et al.
Amra C, Gralak B, Guenneau S, et al., 2013, Negative indices and the admittance formalism in multilayer optics
Negative indices are revisited through the thin-film admittance formalism. Emphasis is given to the anti-reflective behavior, the perfect lens and many other fascinating examples of application. © 2013 Optical Society of America.
Amra C, Petiteau D, Guenneau S, et al., 2013, Admittance formalism for heat conduction in multilayers
We extend the optical admittance formalism to the case of heat conduction in planar multilayers. Equivalences are emphasized between thermal parameters and optical parameters in artificial metallic media. © OSA 2013.
Gralak B, Liu Y, Guenneau S, et al., 2013, All-frequency homogenization of multilayered optics
Multilayered optics are homogenized to fit single layers with spatial dispersion and artificial magnetism. Analytical formulae are emphasized and their validity is discussed at high frequencies. © OSA 2013.
