Summary

Dr. Lashkarinia's research interests are in Computational Biomechanics and Mechanobiology research areas. She was awarded her PhD by the Mechanical Engineering department at Koc University in Turkey in August 2020. Her thesis was focused on the computational growth and remodelling of heart vessels and virtual surgical planning of congenital heart defects which would help surgeons in selecting the most effective surgical option. Dr. Lashkarinia is the recipient of the prestigious Newton International Fellowships 2020 award to support her post-doctoral fellowship in the Bioengineering department at Imperial College London. During her Post-doc, She developed computational techniques to understand the Biomechanics of diseased embryonic hearts and identify the Mechanobiological pathways of the ensuing malformations which helps to diagnose and prevent heart defects before birth.
