EDUCATION

  • Doctorate in Italian-Greek Social History during the Second World War. PhD title :  The Socio-Economic Impact of the Italian Occupation of Syros, 1941-43.  Supervisor: Prof. Mark Mazower. Birkbeck College.
  • MA in Social History of Working Class Movements in the 19th and 20th Centuries, from the LSE.
  • BA Hons. in Modern Languages, Politics and History, University of Westminster.

Teaching and other responsibilities:

  • Teaching Italian Language and coordinating the  Italian language section.
  • Managing the Pairs Scheme to link language partners across the College.
  • Participating in the activities and research seminars of the Centre for Co-Curricualr Studies.

Research Interests and Activities

Research Grants from University of Westminster Developmental Fund for work on language teaching methodology and from Imperial College to investigate computer programmes for language teaching.
Financial support from the College for research trips abroad, during the course of research for the PhD and subsequent book based on the Thesis.

Current research interests:


Research and filming for a documentary film with interviews and supporting footage shot on location in Greece.
A Basket of Food. Greece in the 1940s

To be distributed in 2015. The film has been shown in numerous universities and at the Hellenic Institute London.

 

Future documentary research and production of a film on the subject of:
Contemporary Greece and the sovreign debt crisis.

Conference papers on Italo-Greek relations in World War II, memory and how memories of the war have affected attitudes to the present crisis.
