Shokri Othman MSc BSc RN

Shokri is a course organiser for MRes Clinical Research Design and Management (MRes CRDM) run at Imperial College London at the Faculty of Medicine for nurses and allied health professionals. Since 2009 Shokri has been involved in organising and delivering teaching, supporting research projects, and marking and examining students. Shokri is also part of the management committee that runs a number of MRes Clinical Research courses for a variety of groups including medics, scientists and nutritionists. Shokri also provides support for research projects at Imperial Healthcare NHS Trust and to nursing students including undergraduates, post graduates and higher education students.

Additionally, Shokri is a Lead Nurse in the NIHR/Wellcome Trust Imperial Clinical Research Facility (I-CRF). He took over that role in September 2009. The unit runs early phase clinical trials in a variety of health conditions including oncology, cardiology, metabolic medicine and neurology. The role of the Lead Nurse is to lead a team of research nurses and other clinical staff to conduct clinical trials safely, timely and to the required standards. He is also involved in evaluating projects, developing quality systems for the unit and general elements of training, management and leadership.

Shokri completed his BSc from Jordan University of Science and Technology in 2000, he worked in Jordan for a year before moving to London to work as an Oncology nurse at the Royal Free Hospital. He moved to research nursing in 2003 and worked on cancer clinical trials of phases 1-3 before becoming the Lead Nurse for Research in Cancer and Clinical Haematology for the Trust in 2007. In 2008 Shokri acquired his Master degree in Cancer Nursing from Middlesex University, and in 2009 he moved to Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

In 2011 Shokri started his PhD at Imperial College London working on a project between Imperial Faculty of Medicine, Business School and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, the study aims at studying nurses capacity to adopt health innovations.
