Summary

Sotirios is an Obstetrician Gynaecologist and Accredited Subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery. He holds an Honorary Clinical Lectureship at Imperial College London.

He originally graduated from the University of Sheffield and completed one of the first Academic Foundation Programmes in Yorkshire. He continued his Specialty Training in the London, primarily within Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

He subsequently relocated to Hong Kong where he worked in the Department of Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at the Prince of Wales Hospital. He was appointed a Visiting Scholar by The Chinese University of Hong Kong, where as a Principal Applicant/Investigator he was awarded a Research Grant of HK$1.08 million by the Hong Kong Government. He went on to complete a Fellowship and Doctoral Thesis on 'The use of 3D ultrasound in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery' under the supervision of Professor Tin-Chiu Li.

A few years later he became a Visiting Fellow at the Endoscopic Centre of Fuxing Hospital/Capital Medical University, Beijing, one of the largest Reproductive Endoscopy centres in China carrying out over 20 000 endoscopies per year. There, he was able to gain exposure into rare surgical cases, help develop the 3D ultrasound service and participate in several clinical trials.

He later returned to London to complete his Subspecialty in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at Imperial College NHS Healthcare Trust across Hammersmith, Queen Charlotte's & Chelsea and St Mary's Hospitals.

Sotirios has previously served as a Deputy of the ESHRE Reproductive Surgery Special Interest Group and has co-authored Scientific Impact Papers and Guidelines for the RCOG, ESHRE and ESGE. For a number of years he has been on the faculty of Endoscopy and Ultrasound workshops for ESHRE and ESGE and has taught in MSc programmes in London, Hong Kong and Greece. 

He has a keen interest on the application of novel technologies and Artificial Intelligence in the field of reproductive healthcare and has recently completed an Executive Programme on Artificial Intelligence by MIT.
