BIOGRAPHY

Sarah Whittley is a Clinical Trial Manager within the Department of Surgery and Cancer in the academic section of vascular surgery. She is also currently pursuing a PhD within the department.

Sarah is a Biomedical Sciences graduate from the University of Edinburgh and has over four years of research experience in both academic and commercial clinical trials. She has worked in various therapeutic areas such as vascular surgery and COVID-19 vaccinations. As a Clinical Trial Manager, Sarah assists in all aspects of clinical trial conduct, from initial design through to successful delivery and dissemination of results.

Sarah’s PhD focuses on VTE thromboprophylaxis strategies for individuals undergoing endovenous thermal ablation. She is currently setting up the NIHR funded multi-centre, assessor-blind randomised controlled trial thromboprophylaxis in individuals undergoing superficial endovenous treatment to address her main research question.

Sarah's previous research includes the NIHR funded multicentre, randomised controlled trial examining the benefit of graduated compression stockings in the prevention of venous thromboembolism in low-risk surgical patients.
