Summary

Shilin is a PhD student in the Durrant group in Department of Chemistry, Imperial College London. She is currently working on the photophysical study of Metal-organic Frameworks (MOFs) for carbon dioxide conversion as part of the METHASOL project. She is also working on exploring the photophysics in Covalent Organic Frameworks (COFs) and Carbon Quantum Dots (CQDs).

Her MRes research was under the supervision of Prof. James R Durrant and Dr. Soranyel Gonzalez Carrero, focusing on understanding the charge carrier dynamics in COFs heterojunctions for photocatalytic hydrogen evolution, and MOFs for photocatalytic carbon dioxide reduction. She was awarded a master's of research degree with distinction in 2022.

Before Shilin joined the Durrant Group, she completed her Bsc degree in chemistry at Sun Yat-sen University, under the supervision of Prof. Cheng-yong Su, Prof. Li Zhang and Dr. Shuai Li. During 2017-2021, Shilin worked on the synthesis, characterisation and photocatalysis of Porphyrin Metal-organic Frameworks (PMOFs) with noble metal nanoparticles/alloys for hydrogen evolution reactions (HER) and carbon dioxide reduction. She received the Outstanding Bachelor's Thesis Award in 2021.
