Structures 2 - AERO50008
Aims
This module builds on Mechanics and Structures 1, and provides a basis for Structures 3. It introduces matrix methods in overall structural analysis (stiffness and flexibility methods), structural dynamics (equations of motion for multi degree-of-freedom problems using force equilibrium, Hamilton’s principle and Lagrange’s equation; free vibrations; periodic and transient loads; modal analysis; damping; continuum) and buckling (stability analysis; buckling of struts; critical buckling load; failure envelopes).

Emerging Technology for Green Aviation - MSc AERO70031
Aims
The aim is to introduce the key technological advances, and the corresponding underlying principles, for a greener aviation. This includes the potential advantages of alternative configurations, flow control and drag-reduction using both active and passive systems, load alleviation systems and structural weight-reduction strategies and aircraft end of life and recycling. The module will consist of timetabled lectures and tutorials, delivered by academics with the relevant research expertise.
