Summary

Steph is the Community Collaboration Lead within the Undergraduate Primary Care Education Team, forming links between community-facing organisations and the primary care aspects of the medical degree. The team is constantly developing a community-engaged medical curriculum, aiming to train the next generation of future doctors to better understand communities and their diverse lived experiences.

As part of her role, Steph leads a module for Phase 1c medical students on Promoting Health Equity and provides support for the department’s Widening Access programme, WATCCH. She also works closely with local schools in her leadership of the I-Explore “Social Accountability in Action” module offered to year 2 STEMM students. Alongside this, Steph contributes to undergraduate primary care course development, including a range of real world, community-engaged authentic assessments. Steph has always been driven in environments that make an impact. This stemmed from early roles working with young people in youth development programmes, outreach and tutoring. It has also been a common thread alongside core responsibilities in her previous full-time roles.

She holds a Masters in Biomedical Sciences (MBioSci), specialising in neuroscience and pharmacology, which initially led her to scientific publishing at Pharmaceutical Press including working on titles such as the BNF. Alongside her main role, Steph was also pivotal in the design of a corporate social responsibility strategy for the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.

Following this, Steph worked for Upstream, a partnership between Imperial College London and Hammersmith & Fulham Council, as their Stakeholder Engagement Manager. She designed and led their stakeholder engagement strategy, targeting science, tech and creative organisations - supporting and connecting them to thrive. She also launched initiatives such as the Life Sciences roundtable which brings together C-suite leaders in Life Sciences companies across Hammersmith & Fulham. Her time with Upstream instilled a belief in the power of sustainable networks and she brings this connecting approach to the community collaboration lead role.
