Susann Bruche is currently a PhD student in the Cell-Cell Adhesion Signalling group, which is part of the Molecular Medicine section, National Heart and Lung Institute.

Prior to coming to Imperial College, Susann worked as a research assistant at Leipzig University, Germany. In March 2009, she graduated in Biochemistry with a first class Diploma degree from Leipzig University, Germany. During her Diploma degree she was awarded scholarships of the German National Merit Foundation and of the German Academic Exchange Service for a year abroad at The University of Manchester. In October 2009, she was awarded a 1+3 studentship of the British Heart Foundation Centre of Research Excellence to undertake the MRes in Biomedical Research - CSTEM followed by a PhD at Imperial College London.

Susann’s current research interest is the role of Rho GTPases and their effectors in the formation of cell-cell contacts. Since research so far has focused on the role of very few of the known GTPases, during her project she will try to elucidate the involvement of other GTPases and their effectors in this important process.
