Biography

Toby is a Chapman Research Fellow in the Department of Mathematics. Previously, he was a postdoctoral researcher working with Profs. S. Jon Chapman and Colin Please in the Oxford Mathematical Modelling Battery Group in the Mathematical Institute at the University of Oxford, and funded by The Faraday Institution. He earned his PhD in fluid dynamics under Prof. D. T. Papageorgiou at Imperial College London, studying modern micro-structured (i.e. superhydrophobic) slip surfaces.

Research Interests

His research focuses on the application of perturbation and complex methods to problems across industrial mathematics and engineering, including: microelectronics cooling, lithium-ion batteries, superhydrophobic surfaces, and nonlinear model identification.
