Research Area of Focus:

Patient Outcomes in Vascular Surgery

Outcomes in Venous Disease

Randomised Controlled Trials

Currently recruiting trials:

  • COMFETTI - Compression after foam sclerotherapy for varicose veins
  • MOCA vs CAE - Mechanochemical Ablation versus Cyanoacrylate Occlusion of truncal varicose veins
  • FoS vs AP - Foam Sclerotherapy versus Ambulatory Phlebectomy for varicosed tributary veins
  • NMES for DPNNeuromuscular Electrical Stimulation For The Treatment of Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy
  • Frailty in Vascular Patients - Assessment of patient frailty in those undergoing vascular surgery.
  • NMES for Rehabilitation after Surgery

Clinical Need

Vascular surgery is complex and demanding specialty with highly co-morbid patients.  Optimising patients, procedure and techniques is key to improving outcomes.

Aneurysms are an asymptomatic burden of disease, with significant interventions aftercare.

Varicose veins and venous disease is a common and poorly understood condition. Patients suffer extensive quality of life impairments whilst excellent treatments are available.

Our research investigates optimal treatment pathways for patients with vascular conditions.
