Summary
Virginia Tajadura is a molecular biologist and got her PhD in Genetics and Molecular Microbiology at the University of Salamanca, Spain.
In 2008 Virginia joined the laboratory of Prof. Anne Ridley in the Randall Division of Cell and Molecular Biophysics at King’s College London as a postdoctoral fellow where she carried out studies to identify novel regulators of Rho GTPases involved in cancer cell migration and invasion.
In 2012 Virginia moved to Prof. Joy Burchell's lab to work in a project aimed to define the role of aberrant O-linked glycosylation in breast cancer. She carried out a transcriptome profiling of breast carcinoma cells with different O-glycophenotypes to identify EGF dependent genes involved in tumour progression and microenvironment modulation.
Virginia moved to Imperial College in September 2019 to work in the Glycosciences laboratory @ https://www.imperial.ac.uk/glycosciences as part of the March of Dimes (MOD) European Preterm Birth Research Centre programme. Her research is focused on understanding the interactions of host glycans of the female reproductive tract with commensal and pathogenic microbiota during pregnancy and their impact in preterm birth.
