PhD Project

HIV, COVID-19 and health and well-being: a mixed-methods exploration of the impact of structural and social determinants

My mixed-methods research uses secondary data from the 2017 Positive Voices study as well as qualitative data exploring the impact of COVID-19 on the experiences of people living with HIV (including service provision, treatment, and care).

My research also uses a participatory research approach in collaboration with the peer-led HIV support charity, Positively UK. This includes training & supporting peer researchers to undertake and analyse interviews with people living with HIV. This participatory project is funded through the Rapid Response Seed Fund provided by the Societal Engagement team at Imperial College London.

More detail on our work on COVID-19 & HIV care can be found here, including links to further outputs. You can hear more about my project with peer researchers in the podcast here

As part of this project, we have also published a Peer Research Training Resource that aims to support and provide a starting point for academics and public involvement practitioners who want to train people with lived experience to become co-researchers in qualitative/interview-based research studies.
