Summary

I am PhD researcher at Imperial College London as part of the AI4Health CDT programme. My work under the supervision of Professor Pantelis Georgiou and Professor Alison Holmes focuses on creating artificial intelligence (AI) based clinical decision support systems (CDSS), that utilise routinely collected electronic health record (EHR) data and co-morbidity information to improve the management of infectious diseases in complex multimorbid patients. Work will additionally aim to discern the bias within any data used, and subsequently take appropriate action by adapting algorithms to make CDSS fair and un-biased. This will ensure risks associated with social determinants, including race and ethnicity are adequately accounted for and we don’t amplify the pre-excisting real world patterns of inequality. Furthermore many advanced AI based CDSS have failed at the final hurdle by not being integrated into clinical practice. As such I have a keen interest in the regulation, evaluation and integration of such technologies. By undertaking appropriate research with patients, the public, clinicians and other key stakeholders we will aim to ensure clinical utility and develop and validate algorithms appropriately, with the ultimate goal of implementing cutting-edge AI CDSS technology created, to provide a positive impact on society. My driving motivation is to empower individuals, improve the lives and outcomes of patients with infections and tackle the emerging global threat of antimicrobial resistance.

I have a strong passion for entrepreneurship and applying technology to healthcare. Previously I achieved a Masters in Bioscience Enterprise at the University of Cambridge and gained professional experience at a global healthcare consultancy firm. I am highly interested in start ups and how new innovative technology can create solutions to real world problems.
