Summary

Overview

Youming's research focuses on the function roles of novel genes identified by genetic and genomic approaches. His interests include dissecting the function roles of the asthma susceptive genes identified by positional cloning and genome-wide association studies such as PHF11, SETDB2, DPP10, ORMDL3, GSDMB and IL33. Most of the genes express in airway epithelium cells and immune cells in human. He is also interested in mechanisms in immunoglobulin class switch recombination.

The group works on the cellular models, air-liquid interface cultures (ALI) for human airway epithelial cell models, mutagenesis mouse models, gene knockout mouse models and clinical investigations with genomic approaches, metabolites screening, cell molecular biological and pharmacological studies to the interesting genes. The group also applies the newly development of gene editing and single-cell sequencing in human cells. The primary task is to sequence the IgE producing B cells. The group apply fluorescence anisotropy, fluorescence correlation spectroscopy, and  Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) to detect quantitatively the interactions between ORMDL3 and other proteins in single molecule level.
