Summary
Science & Theatre
Dr Zoe M Harris is very interested in science communication, and has her own theatre company, NEXUS, which works at the interface of research and the arts.
In July 2017, we piloted an R&D project to see how we could communicate cutting edge research about climate change using the medium of theatre. This research and development project was the first step in our journey to establishing how we would like to work and the ways in which we can create theatre from complex themes. In just 4 weeks we created an original piece of devised theatre. Sourcing inspiration from the science museum, talks from experts and hours in the rehearsal room exploring around the theme of global environmental change. The resulting piece was called POWER and was performed on 31st July at Theatre Deli Studios, Broadgate London.
Zoe recently won a funding from the Societal Engagement Seed Fund to develop our performance to include interactive theatre. To do this we are working with local schools and running workshops with young people to see how they like to be engaged with, and the type of devices we could us to increase the impact of our performance.
