Summary
Professor Wang received his Master's medical training at Tianjin Medical University in China and was awarded a PhD in Medicine at Royal Postgraduate Medical School (which merged with and became a medical campus of Imperial College in 1997). He undertook his clinical trainings, registrar, senior registrar and consultant in the Department of Internal Medicine at Tianjin Second Municipal Hospital, Department of Cardiology at Tianjin Thoracic Hospital and Department of Endocrinology at the General Affiliated Hospital to Tianjin Medical University. In 1987 he was appointed to Director of Tianjin Cardio Endocrinology Research Laboratory, Director of Cardiac and Endocrinology Department and a member of academic committee at Tianjin Second Municipal Hospital.
Professor Wang established and has been the president and chief clinician of Beijing Chaoyang Diabetes Hospital. The hospital received and continues to receive tremendous support in its setting up stages and operations from Professor Sir Steve Bloom and his team at Imperial College who have been working closely with Professor Wang's team in making the hospital an integral part of the research and an important past, current and future center for clinical research and translational medicine at Imperial College.
