Summary

Dr Zeinab Mulla is a Senior Teaching Fellow in Public Health. She is Course Organiser for the Master of Public Health (MPH). She is a Registered Public Health Nutritionist (RNutr) and Nutritional Epidemiologist. She is a Fellow of the Higher ducation Academy (FHEA). 

Zeinab has developed a Nutritional Epidemiology Module in 2021  which she  delivers on the MPH and MSc Epidemiology. She also co-leads the Global Health Challenges Module on the MPH and the fully online Global Master of Public Health.

Zeinabs' PhD was in Nutrition (Kings College London awarded 2008) and was investigating the effects of foods high in polyphenols on cardiovascular outcomes. She has an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from UCL. 

Zeinab has a broad range of experience in nutrition research including clinical trials and cohort studies. She has considerable expertise in collaborative multi-disciplinary research. Zeinab has previously been a Research Associate in Nutritional Epidemiology in the Department of Primary Care and Public Health at Imperial College, London.  Her research has included  an MRC-funded project developing, validating and applying a  UK online 24 hour recall dietary assessment tool for use in large scale population studies. More recently Zeinab worked in collaboration with Local Authority researching how community wide interventions can affect childhood obesity outcomes.  Prior to that she was  a post-doctoral fellow in nutritional epidemiology at University College London (UCL) at the  MRC Unit of Lifelong Health and Ageing (formally the National Survey of Health and Development), here she worked in collaboration with MRC Human Nutrition Research in Cambridge.Her research focused on diet over the lifecourse and healthy ageing. As this was in a multicohort project she also has expertise in the cross-cohort harmonisation of diet data.  Zeinab has also worked as a nutrition expert consultant on a cross European Project for the European Governtment (FP7 Programme-Food and Health Research Across Europe (FAHRE)). She has also had experience of working on diet and nutrition cohort studies in Saudi Arabia at King Abdul-Aziz University in Jeddah.
