Strike action is taking place within College starting from Thursday 20th February.

The strikes will span fourteen days, lasting for four weeks, as follows:

  • Thursday 20 and Friday 21 February (2 days)
  • Monday 24, Tuesday 25 and Wednesday 26 February (3 days)
  • Monday 2, Tuesday 3, Wednesday 4 and Thursday 5 March (4 days)
  • Monday 9, Tuesday 10, Wednesday 11, Thursday 12 and Friday 13 March (5 days)

Unless otherwise informed, students should attend the timetabled classes on these dates as normal.

Strike action can be a source of anxiety and concern for everyone. The Physics Head of Department plans to meet regularly with student reps, so students should raise questions and concerns through them.

At this stage, we cannot be sure what teaching will be impacted and to what extent. Students can be assured that following the strike we will carefully review its impact on you and put in appropriate mitigation so that you will not be disadvantaged.

It is quite likely that there will be picketing at the main entrances to College. We would like to reassure all students that they will not be heckled crossing a picket line. Staff understand that this is a difficult time for students. At most you might be given a leaflet explaining why some staff are striking.

In these difficult circumstances, it is important that all of us in the Department work hard to ensure that the strike does not affect our relationships with each other.
