Tokyo Institute of Technology
Prof Ji-Seon Kim, Dr Piers Barnes, Prof Martin Heeney, Dr Martyn McLachlan and Dr Firat Guder visited Japan in September as part of a joint workshop between PE-CDT and Tokyo Institute of Technology on plastic electronics that involved a lab tour and a discussion on future opportunities to collaborate.
The second workshop was held at Imperial on 4 and 5 March, with the first day dedicated to talks from academics from both institutions and the second day a tour of facilities on our White City campus, including the Agilent Measurements Suite, NMR facility, the newly-opened ROAR facility and iHUB, where we learned about the future collaborative and commercial future vision of Imperial. Back at South Kensington, we had tours of the shared CPE facilities in physics and materials.
The next workshop is being planned for 18-19 November 2019 and will be held at Tokyo Institute of Technology, where two PE-CDT students, who will be on exchange at the time, Ross Warren, University of Oxford and Hao Yan, Imperial College London, will present posters.
CDT student Sam Hillman has recently returned from an exchange visit within Martin Vacha's Tokyo Tech where he carried out important work on his PhD research measuring physical particle sizes while in liquid with AFM and measuring the PL intensity of these particles with and without TEA.
Meanwhile, Tokyo Tech student Nao Koishihara from the Hayamizu Research Group returned to Japan after a two month exchange programme visit to Prof Ji-Seon Kim's group at Imperial. Read more about her experiences here.
