ZEPHiR

ZEPHiR is a student-led intiative to produce a completely electric motorbike that can complete the ‘end to end’ challenge, between John O’Groats and Lands Ends. They are aiming to complete this in summer 2017.

Before the 2015/16 academic year, the bike team was involved in TTx racing, before moving its focus to endurance riding.

When completed, they estimate that the bike will have a range of approximately 160 kilometres, and be able to comfortably run at 100 km/h. They’re using 74 XAlt Energy 53Ah cells split into 7 battery modules which will be mounted onto the bike by the chassis team, which is made up of a third year design team.
