Since leaving Imperial in 2006 Alex has made a string of science and natural history documentaries for television, including Inside Nature's Giants, Easter Eggs Live and Your Inner Fish, winning an EMMY nomination - and a BAFTA - in the process.
"The year on the MSc Science Media Production course introduced me to a world of documentary I didn't know existed; from film language and theory, to new filming techniques and old (and sometimes obscure!) documentaries. Having the chance to develop camera and editing skills - adding strings to my bow so to speak - no doubt made me more employable when the year was up, helping me to stand out from what is a very competitive crowd.
Indeed, it was whilst on the Master's course that I was introduced to my current employer, Windfall Films, as part of my work experience placement, and I've been there for over 8 years. Being offered this connection to the industry was an invaluable foot in the door, and I know that Windfall, and other production companies, continue to seek graduates from 'the course' because it has proven itself as a reliable pool of up and coming talent.
